About
I am interested in the ecological dynamics, diagnostics, and pathology of infectious wildlife diseases, particularly those caused by zoonotic pathogens, relevant for public health and species conservation. My thesis research focused on the ecology of Bacillus cereus biovar anthracis, an atypical anthrax-causing pathogen that inflicts wildlife fatalities in African rainforests. Additionally, I serve as the veterinary coordinator for the Evolution of Brain Connectivity project, which aims to investigate brain restructuring processes in the hominoid lineage, facilitating complex behaviors such as language and tool use. Specifically, my responsibilities include specimen collection, training field veterinarians, and conducting disease diagnostics using molecular biology and histological methods.
